JusChek SP-10 male fertility test (1 test)

The JusChek SP-10 Male Fertility Rapid Test is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay test for the in vitro qualitative detection of SP-10 acrosomal protein found in semen to assess whether the sperm concentration is above or below 15 million/mL in human sperm.

Sperm pooling can be used to help diagnose and monitor treatment outcome in male infertility and provide guidance for reproductive planning for suitable couples.

Sperm concentration is one of the main factors doctors use to diagnose male infertility. There are many reasons why a man can be infertile and therefore unable to fertilize a woman's egg during reproduction. A basic and most common reason is abnormally low production of viable sperm. Other reasons may be excessive production of inactive, weak or deformed sperm, high levels of other cells in the sperm that interfere with fertilization, or other physiological factors. Medical or physical conditions can also affect normal sperm production, including severe stress, a recent high fever or illness that occurred within two months before the test, and sudden changes in diet.

Up to 15% of couples experience infertility, defined as the failure to achieve pregnancy after one year of unprotected, well-timed intercourse.

In 40% of couples experiencing infertility problems, male infertility is the main cause.

Because low sperm count is the leading cause of male infertility, an important first step in determining the cause of infertility is to check the sperm count.

The JusChek SP-10 Male Fertility Rapid Test detects the SP-10 acrosomal protein found in sperm. SP-10 is a protein specific to male germ cells and is not found in other cells. This test is highly specific for sperm. The JusChek SP-10 Male Infertility Rapid Test detects SP-10 when the sperm count exceeds 15 million/mL in semen – a level internationally accepted as the minimum sperm count for normal fertility. A low sperm concentration indicates a lower chance of conception.
