The result was positive on the HomeTest ovulation test and we had sexual intercourse during the next fertile days. I believe I am pregnant. How soon can I use the pregnancy test?
Pregnancy test can show results 9-10 days after fertilization, i.e. 4-3 days before the expected day for period. However we suggest you wait for your missed period before you begin testing. You can read more about it here.
How do HomeTest pregnancy tests operate?
HomeTest pregnancy tests are urine tests. They do not require any other device to operate - you can use them as is.
How long will the colored band stay visible on the HomeTest pregnancy test?
For better results, the test must be interpreted within 5 minutes. The test line (the one that will show the positive result), will never disappear. Instead it might get darker after several hours. In some negative results (without a test tile visible), after some minutes, a grey faint line might appear. You should ignore this result.
What time during the day can I test? Do I need to use first morning urine?
We suggest you use first morning urine, but if not possible, any time during the day is fine, too.
Does the quantity of liquid that I will intake affect the result of the HomeTest pregnancy test?
Yes. Too much liquid prior to the test will dissolve the hormone in your urine sample. We suggest you reduce liquid intake at least 2 hours prior to the testing.
Can the HomeTest pregnancy test show false result?
You should make sure that you follow the instructions. If you do, there is no way that you will get false results.
If the result is negative but you still suspect that you are pregnant, then wait at least 2 days and test again, because you might have performed the test very early.
However, there are some cases where the results can be influenced:
1. Pregnancy stops at a very early stage (between 4th and 5th week). This is called biochemical pregnancy. In this case the pregnancy test will show a positive result, because the hCG concentration might be more than 25mlU/ml. Biochemical pregnancy is a very common phenomenon and most women that do not use a pregnancy test, never know that they had a biochemical pregnancy; they may merely experience a late period.
2. Usage of certain medicine and especially fertility medicine. In this case the pregnancy test might show a positive result although there might not be any pregnancy at all.
3. Various pathological reasons might force a pregnancy test to produce a false result. These reasons include tumors in various organs, haemolysis, and lipidaemia.
4. Alcohol may interfere with the test result. It is not recommended to use the test after drinking alcohol.
Our advice is to repeat the test after 2 days and compare the results or do a chorionic test in a lab.
Why do HomeTest pregnancy tests have One Step printed on them?
One Step technology is the latest technology available in pregnancy tests. That is, the pregnancy test is "One Step" or in other words it is a rapid test. Previously, the technology was "Three Steps" where the user needed, besides urine, to use special reactive fluids to run the test.
